Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Small Business Edition What value does Microsoft CRM provide?

Microsoft CRM is design to resolve the common issues that has plague CRM implementations. Some these issues includes offsite worker needing remote access to data, multi-channel customer communications, and rigid software design.

To resolve these issues Microsoft CRM works the way you do, works the way your business does, works the way Information Technology (IT) expects to. People perform their work with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Outlook, Microsoft Office Excel, and Microsoft Word.

Believe it or not, companies still require their employees to copy information from their Outlook e-mail messages and paste it into their CRM systems, especially incoming and outgoing emails.

What about from a technology standpoint?

Microsoft CRM integrates into your existing Microsoft Active Directory directory service and Integrated Windows authentication for user and password management. All data is stored in Microsoft SQL Server for easy backups, restores, and failovers. Microsoft CRM is ready to integrate with other Microsoft Dynamics business solution products, such as GP, SL, NAV, AX

Microsoft CRM 3.0 can be obtain in one of two editions:

  • Small Business Server Edition, which target smaller companies
  • Professional Addition, which target medium and large companies

  • Key differences between the two editions includes:
    • Small Business Edition must be deployed on Microsoft Small Business Server, but Professional can be installed on various Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.

    • You can accommodate a maximum of 75 users in the Small Business edition, but Professional allows you to deploy as many users as necessary.

    • Small Business Edition includes all of the functionality that Professional includes. An additional feature of the Small Business Edition is the CRM integration with Small Business Server Shared Fax Service

    • The Small business Edition provides less flexibility in regard to custom third-party system integration and external user access because you cannot purchase and deploy an External Connector license.

Note:  Small Business Server comes bundled with Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003 technology, and Microsoft SharePoint Services so they can be deployed on a single piece of hardware. Small Business server 2003 Premium Edition also includes Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and ISA Server 2004. Microsoft CRM must be deployed
with Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition because of the SQL Server database requirement.
